You are confusing Activation with Windows Genuine Advantage. Like I said,
this is the worst PR move MS has ever made and only serves to confuse the
paying customers and doesn't affect piracy one iota.
To get the updates, open IE/Tools/Internet Options/Programs/Manage Add Ons
and disable Windows Genuine Advantage. Close IE for it to take effect. Open
it again and ignore the bubble that pops up at the bottom of the window and
go to Windows Update and download all the updates you need.
