For the first problem, here is information from MVP Steve Winograd:

This is a common problem with shared DSL connections that use PPP Over
Ethernet (PPPoE). Here are some possible fixes. Any one of them
should solve the problem:

1. Install Windows XP Service Pack 1 or 2 on the ICS host computer.

2. Find the right MTU setting on the client computer, as shown here:

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article04-107

and then make the setting manually on the client computer, or use
DrTCP to make it:

http://www.dslreports.com/front/drtcp.html

3. Download the free RASPPPoE program and install it on the host
computer. Use it instead of XP's PPPoE program. Details at these
sites:

For the second problem, check your email settings with your ISP. Perhaps
they've changed them. I thought Prodigy was a dialup and yet you say
you are using DSL. Or perhaps you kep the Prodigy settings and now your
ISP has changed them to something else. This happened to a client of
mine who was using the original SBC DSL before the company became SBC
Yahoo. The email settings were changed, and the ISP *may* have sent an
email to its subscribers with the notice but my client missed it. Maybe
this is your situation.
