Need to Repair Installation - Installed w/ SP1 upgraded to SP2. wh

Hello Everyone. My fan went bad a few on me a few days ago, as a result my
cpu burned, and somehow my mobo got damaged too....A huge domino effect.

Well I have just finished ghosting my system just incase. I have replaced
the mobo, cpu, heatsink & fan. But I know xp is not going to like this.. Hal
or something. In the past when I did a repair -- all my desktop items(which
had important files) were gone and so was my user account with all my
documents... I manage to get most of it back using recovery software to get
it back off harddrive..

I want to avoid any problems... so question is :
Which version do I use to do the repair? I have slipstreamed sp1 and sp2.
However two months ago, I went back to sp1 and then upgraded to sp2 because a
particular program would not run properly in systems with a clean sp2
installtion.

Man, Im making this long arent I? hehehe sorry.

I once read you could change something with hal and then you wouldnt have to
do the repair ... as soon as xp would start back up it would just accept the
new mobo without the usually problems most encounter now when hardware
changes enough to cause this situation..

sorry again.. I always enjoyed reading stuff in the community..learned alot.
