On Sunday 14 August 2005 09:29 am, Carey Frisch [MVP] had this to say in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general:
> XP = eXPerience
>
The experience of opening ones computer to thousands of viruses, trojans and
adware. The experience of a closed registry system that is a major p.i.t.a.
to troubleshoot. The experience of losing USB2 devices that "used to work,
but just stopped working". The experience of having to get MickeyMouse's
permission when some of your hardware gets updated to continue using the
system. The experience of purchasing an OEM copy that is tied to the
computer it came with, so you can't use it on another computer should you
so desire. The experience of needing to purchase all sorts of third-party
software apps to keep your computer somewhat stable and secure. The
experience of having very old and pretty useless software bundled with the
OS, like Paint and Notepad to name a couple. The experience of discovering
one day that the OS will only boot to a blank desktpp or worse, not boot at
all. The experience of an "operating system" so full of holes and so buggy,
it's seen years of patches that still don't quite make it any more
bearable. The experience of using a toy operating system that masks as Bill
Gate's answer to the 21st Century.
Yep, I agree with Carey. XP certainly is an "eXPerience". One that more and
more people are wishing to avoid.

Have you been MicroShafted today?
To mess up a Linux box, you need to work *at* it.
To mess up a Windows box, you only need to work *on* it.
