1. I would replace the hub with a router for more security. They are
inexpensive. If you have more than 8 computers on the lan, you can get
an additional switch to connect to the router.
2. Make sure you have firewalls running on all Windows machines.
Configure the firewalls to allow lan traffic as trusted.
3. Use strong passwords.
