If they are only shortcuts then yes you may delete them without losing the document. The shortcuts are simply for your convenience and are placed there when you open a file and want to open it again later without having to navigate to it again.

Just getting around to asking this
I have a few 'My Document' folders' listed in Explorer.
Under Desktop
Under Documents & Settings\Jay
Between Mobile Devices and My Network Places
They appear identical.
Why do I need all these? Any way to delete some of them?
