Let me explain clearly why we don't want HJT logs here. This has nothing
to do with your skills - you give good advice and seem to know what you
are doing.
1. It takes a lot of skill and training to properly interpret a HJT log.
Removing the wrong thing can make the poster's Windows installation
inoperable.
2. If you look at some of the postings on various HJT forums, you will
see that most times the expert will address items in the poster's first
HJT log, ask them to make some changes, and post another HJT log. There
can be many such requests during the course of solving one particular
problem. This is time-consuming and there is a lot of back-and-forth
communication. It is not uncommon for two and sometimes three HJT logs
to be posted as the expert works with the poster. In addition, the
expert has the ability to bring in other experts and/or discuss the
case with them in a moderators' forum.
3. As you know, this is Usenet and these are unmoderated groups. The HJT
forums we recommend are moderated and controlled. In order to be an
expert, the forum moderators provide training and don't allow just
anyone to answer the HJT log posts. Most of the people who post
questions here are end users, not particularly computer-savvy. It is
completely possible that they will take bad advice from a troll, a
malicious person, or even someone who means well but doesn't know what
they are doing. I'm sure you wouldn't want some innocent like that to
be hurt that way. Good tech support means "do no harm".
4. No one is saying that you need to join one of the HJT forums if you
want to examine a poster's HJT log. I don't recommend it because you
lose the valuable asset of many trained eyes/minds watching and helping
with a case. However, if you want to offer help without joining one of
the HJT forums, then give the OP your email and continue the case
privately. Unfortunately, when you do this the information about that
case and its particulars are lost to the general community since the
private consultation is not searchable.
I hope that helps explain why we suggest going to HJT forums and not
posting logs here. After all, with all due respect this isn't about
you; it's about providing the best possible tech support to the OP.
