Cursor continuously busy in OE preview pane?

Not a major problem but am curious as to why it's happening.
I often use the keyboard arrow keys to navigate through e-mail and newsgroup
messages. If the cursor is in the Preview window it very often, but not
always, shows as continuosly
busy (hourglass) but if I move the mouse at all it stops. Happens with a
different
mouse and before and after Windows updates.
Using OE 6 on XP/SP2.
