I don't believe it is SpySweeper. I have the same issue on both a computer that has SpySweeper installed and running, and on one where it has never been installed. After shutting down SpySweeper (I admit, without taking it out of startup with an msconfig, and rebooting), the problem persists.
I don't believe this is related to ad-ware/spyware - at least, after
running SpySweeper, PestPatrol, Microsoft Anti-Spyware, and Lavasoft
Ad-aware and finding NOTHING on either computer AND rebooting, the
problem doesn't go away. Found an entry for popcap.com in HJT (along
with RealPlayer's annoying TkBell thing...) that I got rid of,
everything else was related to something I recognized as legit. Problem persists.
I have done full scans with both Symantec Antivirus Corp. Ed. 9.0, McAfee (provided and updated by AOL with AOL 9.0), and Sophos AV and found nothing, so I doubt it is some new "right-click virus".
So I did some more research on this, and found this: 'XP SP2 Error: Divx Install Causes Right Click to Crash Explorer Shell'
(http://www.tech-recipes.com/windows_tips555.html). While I don't have
the full SP2, I have all the other updates, some of which will say they
are SP2 in Add/Remove Programs, so maybe you don't need all of SP2 for
this to affect you? For now, I am chalking it up to this.
You haven't quoted any of the message to which you are replying. Next time quote something to keep it in place. If you're having problems with right click context menu issues see this link:
