Thanks again Jim, I will remember that now. However, I see nothing on the bottom, and I changed the resolution, nothing shows up on the bottom. A Cntrl Alt Del brings nothing either, the 3rd attempt brought up a log-in screen for Owner, and I added my password and it opened up the same way. The shut down screen was shaded for the Owner log-on screen. So no love yet. I appreciate your help a lot. I got to run to work now...102 in Sacramento today.........Peter

That page is called the WELCOME SCREEN and it should have a few words along and near the lower left corner of the screen that will open page that offers the options to restart, shutdown or hibernate.
Your screen resolution may be set incorrectly so that message doesn't show.
Using Control+Alt+Del keys at same time should open a boot / logon menu which should offer shutdown options.
I am using XP Pro, and I have not looked for other means since I do have the shutdown link on the Welcome Screen.

| Thanks for your help..............I may have not explained
it correctly.
| When I start my computer, when Windows is loaded, all I
see is a blue screen

w/o having to log
