Try disabling the on-board sound in the BIOS
Watch the startup sceen as it flys past. You'll see something like "Press
<DEL> to enter setup" You have to be quick and press the magic key before it
continues booting.
All motherboards have a different way into BIOS.
When you get into the BIOS, look for "Onboard Peripherals". You'll find the
soundchip in there.
