How reach safe mode on HP Pavillion 520w?

I'm trying to help someone reach safe mode on an HP Pavillion 520w long
distance who says that none of the keys work. I thought F8 was universal
(MSFT describes it in their Safe Mode KB) and F5 might be used on some
machines. I don't know about other keys and always thought Bios setup could
vary as to key to reach but not safe mode. Does anyone have any info or
authoritative reference on Safe Mode keys in general and that particular HP?
