Since it sounds like your computer is clean, here are a few suggestions:

1. Go to MVP Kelly Theriot's site here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm
and click on "S". Scroll down to the Save issues and see if the
information about Save As solves your problem.

2. Make sure you've done the normal maintenance and deleted temporary
and Temporary Internet Files with Disk Cleanup. Start>Run cleanmgr
[enter]

3. Did this function ever work correctly? If so, what changed between
the time things worked and the time they didn't?
