i am in the process of buying a laptop, what i would like to do is
when i have first got xp on the hard drive i would like to do a backup
to a cd, as in norton ghost type of program, is the a non install
freeware prog out there that will do that.
only going to put the bare bones on the backup no sp1 or sp2.

Re: I hate to recommend... ... I just helped a friend buy and set up an external hard drive as a backup unit for his laptop.... It's a very nice unit, in an aluminum case, and comes with Retrospect software for a Mac or a PC. ... We configured the button on the front of the LaCie to invoke SuperDuper so that it runs when he wants it to, rather than "automatically," because he doesn't always have the laptop switched on. ...
