Re: Upgrade to XP Pro

I deleted Service Pack 2 and then again tried to upgrade. The upgrade did
stall once but I was finally able to finish the upgrade. However many of my
shortcuts and programs no longer work.

After reading some knowledge base articles I find that OEM installations
have a file called Undo_guimode.txt that should not be there and must be
removed before the upgrade. None of the articles about upgrading mentioned
this. I don't have a restore disk from the OEM. Is there anyway to get these
links back and restore proper program operation.

Also I can't find any infomation on how to uninstalled Windows XP Pro in
another partition of the hard drive. I had installed this copy of Windows XP
Pro to double boot and leave XP home in place but I could never get it to
work properly so I reverted to upgrading XP home which was my first choice in
the beginning.

I now know I have done a couple of stupid things but if anyone has any
advice that would help me out of this mess I would appreciated it.

Thanks,
Dave
