Re: removing windows messenger icon from systray

removing windows messenger icon from systray:
Note: The following procedure applies to all/most messenger versions, but
currently implemented succesfully in messenger 5.1.0680.
*Part 1 --Outlook Express:
-UNcheck-> "Automatically log on to windows messenger"
-CHECK-> "when starting, go directly to my inbox folder (important!)
This will prevent outllok from trying to fetch the contact list (via the
main page)
-View/layout-> UNcheck "contacts" -Customize toolbar-> remove the "contacts"
button.
Apply all!

Next (mostly applicable to messenger 5.x versions)
*Part 2 -Messenger:
When openning OE, normally if above are NOT set, messenger will still start
but with -embedding switch!
Floating process but not visible...
(visible only in task manager, unless clicked), none theless, I caught it
twice *connecting* although i was not signed in ...hmmmmmmmmm
To prevent such "ghost":
-Make sure to sign out, sign in once and UNcheck the "sign me in
automatically"...
-Tools/options/prefs: UNcheck it from startup
When terminating each messenger session, sign out, -Tools/options/accounts:
-UNcheck the "My contacts include ...NET... service", and CHECK one of the
other 2 options
Leaving blank details...(SIP or Exchange)
*With these settings, only if messenger is clicked on, and/or accidentally
hit the main OE page, it'll be visible
on the task bar and in a definite signed-out status! (no crudentials
provided !)
Otherwise it's no longer on the task bar!!!! ;)
Naturally if starting it, the process has to be reversed upon sign in (e.g
check "Net" uncheck the "other")
....And I'm finally in total control!
Happy messenging ;)
