Re: Upgrade to XP Pro

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Thanks for the reply. I tried to create a bootable disk but all the steps
specified did not work. I must have done something wrong but I have probably
tried at least 10 or more time and checked and double checked but each time I
get to the step where I Integrating the SP2 files into XP I get the following
error message every time.

Failed to copy some or all the files necessary for intergrated install.

Using run: C:\XP-SP2\i386\Update\Update.exe -S:C:\XP

Or c:\SP2\update.exe /s:c:\XP

(I tried methods noted on both sites that were suggested which the same
technique it would seem with different directories)

Please check that:
a)No network or copy errors occurred during the integration process.
b)The format of the distination director is correct.
The files to be integrated must reside in an i386 and/or ia64 or nec98
directory
(i.e. for an i386 share, if you typed "update 's:c:\cdshare", the files must
be in the c:\cdshare\i386 directory)

I have tried everything I know to check but can not get past this error.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks.
