BTW, how did you manage to run a virus scan ?

Do you have any other user accounts ? if not try boot into safe mode
Administrator account to see if it happens there ? The password should be
blank and you can press F8 key at the startup to access Safe mode.

If it happens there, I am afraid the system files are corrupted and may
require a reinstall too. Before going for a repair install you can run sfc
/scannow from Start -> Run.

If not, the user profile should have been corrupted.

Will wait for the result before proceeding with reinstall.
