No, the remote shouldn't ask for a log in when there are matching
accounts. Are you certain there is no firewall issue on either machine?
The fact that you were able to map the share but not access it would seem to
indicate either a firewall or NTFS permissions problem. The Windows
Firewall is enabled by default on SP2 machines. If enabled, is File and
Printer sharing checked in Exceptions?
re. the 1219 error - That's normal if a mapping exists under another user
name. After having mapped Joe, if you run
net use n: /delete (or net use * /delete) to delete that mapping, you should
be able to try again as administrator which is a good idea..
