Sometimes, Carey's advice is spot-on.

It would be interesting to see his ratio of right to wrong answers. Based on what I've seen here over the past couple of years I'd estimate it's probably close to 50/50.

However, I get the impression it matters little to him whether it is
or not.

I doubt that he cares one way or the other.

I would say from my observation his positive average is much higher than 50% and I would think he does care about being helpful. He does not in my observation post harmful replies to questions.
In the instance of this thread, he is wrong with his reply and contridicts his own replies when asked what to do when
Setup cannot continue because.....newer...version is detected. He recommends creating a slipstreamed XP CD.

Carey does not do this and this seems to infuriate the regular newsgroup participants.

It doesn't infuriate me, but I can see how that could be assumed. I use less than nice words with him at times because that's about the only way to get his attention (if even that does), besides, sometimes he *is* being exactly what he is being called.

As far as never admitting when he's wrong, that is a character flaw and shows his lack of respect for the group.
