Very wrong, I see none of his posts being harmful.

I do but I don't think he's sadistic in his intent.

Advising someone to buy a new copy of an OS they do not need is harmful.

Posting a link to how to do a repair install or clean install when all the poster may need is a good OS cleanup is harmful.

Telling someone the EULA forbids making an ISO of a slipstreamed OS install CD is harmful if that is exactly what they need to do in order to solve a problem.

See my other reply in this thread. When Carey posts wrong info, the only harm it creates is usually offset by introducing the OP to a venue of information they never knew existed.

Irrelevant information is not helpful and can contribute to the frustration many posters already have over their problems. I see that as harmful.

He has flaws, but his help to harm ratio is far weighted into the help part of the ratio. Also you must admire his ability to completely ignore all derogatory comments towards him.

All the comments and corrections should be a wake up call for him. He has blinders on and has admitted as much in the past. He's also admitted that it is the insulting and derogatory comments that get his attention, so they do serve a potential puprose.

Some of "us" in the peer group should follow his example, I am sure it would cut down on the noise level of OT posts. LOL

I don't consider correcting mis-information to be OT and generally I try not to be derogatory about it. Once in a while I am, but for good reason IMO or I wouldn't do it.
