RE: Drive not picking up CD name

Hi David,

Thank you for posting here.

First I appreciate Kelly's suggestion.

>From your post my understanding of this issue is: you can not see the CD'
name when you insert a CD into the driver. If this is not correct, please
feel free to let me know.

Base on my research, I suggest you to boot into Safe Mode first to see if
the "CD Name" display correctly. Steps are below:

1. Restart the computer.

2. Keep pressing the F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.

3. Choose Safe Mode, and press Enter.

4. Test this issue in Safe Mode.

Note: In Safe Mode, your system display and Desktop will look and perform
differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary.

If the "CD Name" display correctly in Safe Mode, you may go further.

1. Backup your Registry.

Step1. Click Start, click Run, type REGEDIT, and click OK.
Step2. Click "Export Registry File" under Registry menu, choose All under
Export range, type filename for this backup registry, and click Save.

2 In Registry Editor, navigate to the following key by clicking the PLUS
(+) sign.
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11
CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}"

3. Highlight the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} folder in the left
pane; delete the following two keys in the right pane.
"UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters"
Note: Right-click on the above keys, and click Delete.

4. Restart your computer.

I hope that the above information can be of assistance. If you have any
concerns, please feel free to let me know. I am glad to be of assistance.

Best regards,

Vincent Xu

| I have a computer that is running XP SP2 firewall off.
|
| When I insert a disk this computer will not display the CD 'name' in the
| Windows Explorer.
| I take the same disk and put it in another computer running XP SP2
firewall
| off and it DOES display the CD's name.
|
| This problem may seem small but it appears to be causing a problem with a
| particular APP that needs the CD name in order to continue with an
inserted
| disk.
|
| Anyone have any idea what is going on here and how to fix it??
