enter this sequences of commands from a CMD box:
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
cd %SystemRoot%\System32
start devmgmt.msc

this will open up an instance of device manager. Select
view/show hidden devices.

See if you have problem or duplicate of your sound device
driver under sound, video and game.
