Norton and McAffee are the most popular, yet most hacked and unstable
security softwares in the market. I'd never recommend Norton. For one, it
trys to "take over" your pc by running tens of services. It also slows your
computer down a lot. You should always check reviews before making a purchase
of security products as they are extremely important. Go to PCmagazine's
website or PCworld website and check the reviews. I personally use Trend
Micro's internet security. It has been rated the best software out there. It
doesn't take over your PC, it's easy to use for the novices yet complex
enough for experts.
With the problem you mentioned and as other indicated, it sure seems to me
like a resident virus that's been living in your pc for generations. You
can't just bulldoze it out of your system with Norton (cuz it sucks). Try
scanning your PC using trend micro's new online scan BETA. It removes viruses
and spywares. www.trendmicro.com
Hope that helps......
....and yes, I love trend micro.
