Unable to Save images as JPG with the Internet Explorer

I upgraded from Windows XP Home edition to Windows XP Professional with SP2
integrated and I lost to important functions during that upgrade.
1. I am unable to save images as JPE.
2. My PC does not recognize HID devices, like my Backups battery.

I talk to a few Microsoft tech's but none of the gave me a solution that
worked. I even tried repairing the OS with installation CD, but it didn''t
work.

Does anybody had this problem and if anybody can. Please email a solution
that would work. I just don't want to reinstall the OS from scratch. I am
trying to avoid that. Anybody, please reply. Your help will be greatly
appreciated
