XP freeze when remotely connects to Outlook/Word

I'm running XP Home on my desktop and connect to work via ComcastISP/Motorola
cable modem. To access work I use a client Citrix ICQ application. I connect
without problems but once I start Outlook or Word remotely, my computer
starts freezing...with brief unfreezes and then refreezes..I can close down
and disconnect from internet, but the intermittent freezing persists until I
reboot. WHen shutting down, I get an end-program box with a gibberish
alpha-numeric name that slowly closes and then the dreaded blue-screen pops
up.
Uninstalled/reinstalled Citrix client...no change. Disabled Norton Internet
security..no change.
Internet access\computer works fine until I try to connect with work for
e-mail, etc.
