Re: Hacker !?

Is windows Firewall enabled or are you using an alternative firewall? If the
firewall is active then it is difficult for a hacker to get access unless
you have let him have access.
Is Autmatic Updates enabled? If so has the update icon appeared in the
system tray? Currently there are no updates available, but it may be a case
that some earlier updates were not download/installed on your pc.
Do you have AVG set to automatically scan the hard drive. The schedule is
usually initiated by default so, unless you prefer AVG to scan every single
day, you change the schedule option.
It is possible for the files you mentioned (AVG Scan) to have 'changed' by
them. I have had this happen to me and AVG don't know why - or they didn't
when i contacted them. I did notice that this happened 'after' i had
installed a windows update. Which update it was, though, i am unsure. You
will find that they will remain 'changed' every time you run an AVG scan. To
get them back to the OK stage go to folder option and make sure that 'show
all hidden files and folders' has a tick in the box on the left of the
option. Scroll down the list a little lower and uncheck 'hide portected
operating system files (recommended). Click Apply to apply the changes. Next
open Windows Explorer and click on your C: drive. Look for the folowing
files:

AVG7DB.F.DAT
AVG7QT.DAT

If you don't have both, don't worry. Now delete both files. After deleting
Run AVG again and the files will be recreated. Now you should find that the
files are OK.
Does the writing/saving noise occur when you are physically using the pc,
i.e., creating documents, using applications or does it only start when the
pc is idle? If it occurs when the machine is idle (in other words there is
no input from you) then i could simply be the indexing system scanning and
indexing the hard drive.
