Re: Sounds not working

Need your input

I let my 23 yr old son go and look up a link on my W2K3 on account he needed
to some research for his Masters. Well his research put deosearch on the
system. I was able to remove it without any problems including the entries
in the hive.

I then got Send error reports but that also was no problem. Fixed it. Then
came this issue with which I am grappling with.

The following is what I get 7 times in a row when hitting the OK button and
always with a diff erent ady.

explorer.exe-Application Error
The instructions at xxxxxxx referenced memory at xxxxxxx. The memory could
not be read.

Click OK to terminate the prog
Click on cancel to debug the prog

OK Cancel

Here is where the prob arises. Clicking OK will bring up the same error but
with a different address. To go through all the different addresses it takes
7 times. Always a different ady in the body of the message. On the
last one (7th) the Desktop reverts to the default (Restore my Active
Desktop) Enabling or leaving it alone will bring up the 1st error box again.

But if I pull the error box to the top of the display I am able to work the
system without any issues.

Have tried and removed IE\OE and reinstalled then rebooted and run WFP(sfc
/scannow) but this bugger is still with me. I tried a restore point to the
last good config and I get the error no know last config. I set that every
night (old habit so I do not lose too much). Have done the
Spybot.AdAware,CW,Rav,MS Blaster,Bit Defender,Norman at first. I have 3
other back up OS's but this one is my baby. Dual Xeon 3.2 with L3 9MB cache
and 6 Gig Ram.

I do not want a reinstall so I am going to try and work on it .

Do you have any ideas or input that might assist . You know my IE\OE version
is 6.00.3790.1830

XP apps and fixes work pretty much on this K3. Articles in the KB does not
give me this 7 different wonders. It give on one but has no effect.
Otherwise I am healthy(lol)
