Where on earth did you get the idea that my version of PRO was an OEM
version, for starters? It is NOT.

Secondly, I believe whether it being OEM or not has no bearing. What does
is whether it is PRO or HOME. It needs to be PRO.

According to MAXIMUMpc the current issue, MS is offering an exchange
program. You will be able to exchange your 32 bit license for a 64 bit
license then download the upgrade. They will use software to authenticate
your version before you download. This tells me as long as XP PRO is running
on your system, OEM or retail, you'll be able to upgrade. No middleman
involved, i.e. your dealer/manufacturer.

OBVIOUSLY MVP's are misinformed and don't get informed any more than the
regular customer.
