IMO there's some really crappy USB2 stuff out there. I don't
recognize "idemax" as a brand.
I bought a no-name 5-port USB pci card for my big desktop machine and
it's flakey. It cost about $12 so I'm living with it for now. (I hate
loose cords and hubs and power warts so I run all my little USB
devices right to the PC. It eliminates lots of clutter.)
I got a service call from someone who just bought a nice HP color
laser that was printing garbage on one PC. The final conclusion what
this PC (Big Name, 15 months old) had a southbridge chip (?) that had
a known problem with USB2 devices. The Intel, HP, and manufacturer's
websites all confirmed this. A name brand USB2 card for $35 fixed it.

Don't blame me. I voted for Gore.
