Is firewall active

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I recently installed SP2 and the security center shows my fire wall is
active. I had been using McAfee and am used to seeing a lot of notifications
of attempted entries into may computer. I've been on for over an hour and
have not gotten any notifications from the new firewall. Is this normal or do
I need to change some kiind of setting. I believe it should come up in the
information bar. Any help or insight would be appreciated.
