As I understand it, second (slave) hard drives are viewed by
Windows as another folder, albeit hardware based.
You'll be installing XP to the primary/master drive C? Then it isn't a
problem,
Your CD burner is on an IDE channel (assuming it is internal) as is your
second hard drive, no diff between the two, you won't be disconnecting
the CD burner too?
Maybe I'm missing something, but why do you think you may need to
disconnect one device (HD) from an IDE channel during XP install?
Basically, as long as I understand your question, - NO, don't disconnect
any other device(s) already correctly configured on IDE channels.
