Default Email Server Error for XP

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

We are getting a Default Email Server Error when in Word, after creating a
document and trying to email it; and also when on the internet on a site,
when we click on the web page's email address to contact the person/company,
we get the same error message and tons of boxes are opening. What do we need
to do to fix this error from occuring?
