Sorry, I should have know with your considerable responsibilities with all

had
much more to consider here. Good Luck...
No problem, no apology needed. Thanks for your comments.

Certainly, my comments won't help you (so why am I posting) and while I
am
sure Microsoft hoped XPs SP2 would quiet a lot of grumbling about
security,
it also added a bunch of additonal problems that come-up on this forum every day. Befuddled and anxious people with many issues with stuff that used to work and now does not. Despite what advocates of SP2 say, it has caused much grief, perhaps because people didn't prepare properly for
its'
install (as the MVPs would suggest) or simply because it is just another patch for a patch for a patch. I wish i trusted this more, but until
some of
the bugs get worked out of the 'patch', (if they do) the install CD with
SP2
on it will remain in my drawer, not installed; a gift from Microsoft.
You're right, not much help, but thanks for the commiseration anyway.
It is a widely known fact among Netware admins that Micro$oft has always done its best to thwart Netware connectivity in Windows. They did a much better job of it with XP and especially with SP2.
Oh, and BTW, I did a very thorough job of preparing the machine for SP2 and it still sh!t the bed first time around but that is in another post ("SP2 install fails due to incorrect system filename").

I don't mean simply turn it off, I need to completely obliterate it and everything it and any other network stupidity SP2 did to my machine. I need to have SP2 in order to support my users properly.
Since installing SP2 mapped drives on Netware servers do not reconnect at startup and when I try to reconnect or browse to them manually I am denied access and then told the network name cannot be found, example:
"\\Nwpths1\APPS is not accessible. You might not have permissions to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of the server to find out if you have access permissions.
The network name cannot be found."
I _AM_ the administrator of the server. I can login manually browsing through the NDS tree. Another anomoly is even when I locate a server object in the tree opening it shows it as empty and I am not authenticated to it. Yet another is that in Netware Services, Netware Server I only see servers I am attached to instead of all NW servers on the wire like in pre-SP2.
Another net-admin told me there are some registry items that need to be changed to correct this but couldn't remember them. I have changed a couple of things concerning the firewall (override firewall and override a/v) but they have had no effect at all. My a/v is set to not scan network drives.
Any help appreciated. Thanks, Steve
