Hi Tim,
Thank you for posting. Also thanks for Malke's help.
>From your post, my understanding of this issue is: When you install Windows
XP Service Pack 2 to some desktop PCs with GPO, these computers had to
restart several times before installing successfully. If this is not
correct, please feel free to let me know.
Based on your description, I think that these installing on computers which
need multiple restart are failed at first time, so there are several
following installations until success. Please refer to the following steps
to narrow down the root cause of this issue:
1. To check this, please view the Service Pack installation log file on the
computer had restarted repetitiously. To view the installation log, open
the following log file in a text editor, such as Notepad:
%systemroot%\svcpack.log
2. Please compare some log files on different computers which had the same
issue, and check whether there is anything dissimilar.
3. If you couldn't find anything abnormally in log files, you may send the
svcpack.log file to me at v-tomche@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
4. Have all desktop PC the same configuration (including hardware and
software) before installing SP2? Or, which common ground could be found in
the computers that had the same issue?
Please let me know the above information so that I can provide further
assistance on this problem. I look forward to your reply.
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
Tom Che
