Perplexed:
1. With your "old" drive connected to your XP machine as Slave and with the
hard drive in that machine connected as Primary Master, you will, of course,
boot to the PM drive, which I'm sure you understand.
2. Under those circumstances, there should be no problem in your accessing
the "old" drive (that's now connected as a Slave) in terms of moving,
copying, saving, etc. files.
3. "Clicking" on that "old" drive, now designated as your F: drive, will
*not* cause that drive to boot. It will not "automatically appear on (your)
monitor". I think you're probably referring to the possibility of that drive
booting to a Desktop. But it *can't* at this point. All you can do while
that drive is connected as Slave after booting up with your "new" drive is
access the contents of that F: drive, as noted in 2. above.
4. If you want that "old" drive to boot (I *think* that's what you want,
no?), you will have to disconnect the "new" drive and boot to the "old"
drive. If that *is* what you want, it probably would be best if after
disconnecting the "new" drive, that you connect the "old" one as Primary
Master. It's possible it may boot from the Slave position (after
disconnecting the current PM) but it may not.
5. But it's possible, even likely, that the "old" drive will not boot
because you have removed that drive from a completely different (I assume)
system and installed it in this *new* system. There's a way to get around
this, but it gets a bit complicated and I'm not entirely sure you're even
interested in booting to your old drive in this new system But if you are,
let us know.
