missing DLL when virus inecfted during sp2 install

During an SP2 installation, my machine was infected by a virus. This seems to
have resulted in some missng dlls such as msconfig, shell and som eothers
(which I don't know about). I had SPYBOT, ADWARE and NORTONS running although
the Norton's was missing the most recent update at that point in time.
Norton's now and again will come up with a message of STARTPAGETROJAN.
Although not on all occasions, and not on every invocatioon of IE (which is
also at the highest patch level).
I have tried to re-install the above DLLs but get a message that these have
been superceded.
What can I do? I have thought of doing a 'SLIPSTREAM' re-install but that
seems drastic.
So how can i determine
a) which dlls are missing
b) install these
c) do I have to go back to first priciples and Slip stream.
Any and all advice would be most welcome.
Thanks
Nosferatu
