Michael,
Just thought I'd let you know what cured the problem. I didn't get any
responses from the other group on this issue so I've been plugging away at
it on my own. Turns out that my mom had Norton AntiVirus 2005 loaded with
the "Internet Worm Protection" turned on! This is also a firewall app and is
the reason that the firewall indicator in Windows Security Service would not
turn off. As soon as I turned off the Internet Worm Protection the firewall
fell like a ton of bricks.
