Transfering data/OE from Win98 box to XP computer

I've read a number of the posts here about how to transfer data, but there
is still some confusion in my mind about the procedure.
My old computer runs Win 98SE; the new box (being built) will run Win XP
Pro. I have read about the Files and Transfer wizard in XP. Am I correct
in assuming that it can be used to transfer selected files from the old
computer to the new? Pardon that seems like a self-evident question.
Moving the old hard drive to the new box is not an option.
Would I need some sort cable to attached the two machines? Parallel or USB?
Or do I copy data to a CD first?
My wish is to copy all of the My Documents and other data, along with OE6
email folders, address books, and also Favorites folder. (Which
folders/files would I copy?)
Thanks for your help. -- Judy
