I have a problem which has been bugging me now for some time. I have a Time Notebook VT8372 AMD Athlon 1600+ running Windows XP Home SP2 and the sound has suddenly disappeared. All options in Sounds and Audio Devices in Control Panel are greyed out and while I can see my Device on the Hardware Tab, when I it the `Apply` button remains greyed out so I cannot select it. To date I have tried the following:

1. Checked for sound settings in BIOS - no sound options are presented
2. Checked the Windows Audio Service is Running - it is and set to Automatic
3. Checked Device Manager - Sounds, Games and Video Controller section and everything shows OK with drivers enabled. The Properties section of my driver shows Audio, Midi and Mixer devices are all enabled - started but not running.
4. Have uninstalled all sound drivers in Safe Mode and let Windows reinstall on reboot which it does. But the result is still the same. My Audio Driver is a:
Vinyl AC`97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM) updated from the Windows Update site. This driver uses IRQ5 with four other processes but there are no conflicts indicated.
5. I have run msinfo32 and there are no problem devices.

My system tray has Zone Alarm Pro, NAV 2005, Microsoft AntiSpyware and InCd from Nero.

I would be very grateful if anyone can help me with this issues please.
