Re: SP 2 compatibility problem

I have done all of that!! I've even got me a guy over at the abit forum that
has been tagging along with me through this whole thing and there is nothing
that seems to be pointing directly at a specific problem!! Like I said
before...It runs slick as a whistle in SP 1, but I can't even get safe mode
stable long enough to uninstall SP 2!! There is nothing in the computer but
the agp video card...and ofcourse the optical drives and the hard drive. I
have disabled the sata raid on the motherboard, since i'm still running ide,
and i've also disabled the onboard sound. I've even made a slipstream disc,
but when I use that...I get to the point of installing the network, and then
it ask you if you want typical or custom settings, so I choose typical...then
about 1 minute after that I get a bunch of repeated errors that it cannot
find such and such file...or it is corrupt, etc., so Ok all of those and then
I get th BSOD (different explanation every time) and were back to square one!!
I went out and bought me a 450watt psu hoping that would fix the problem,
but it didn't. Below is my current configuration...
450watt psu
abit Kv7-v mobo w/sempron 3000
nVidia GeForce2 MX/MX 400 64mb
aopen dl dvd burner
generic dvd rom
Maxtor 40gig hard drive
2x128 spectek pc2100 ddr (overclocked to 333) overclocked or not no SP2
Correct me if i'm wrong...but if you install from a slipstream cd...there
shouldn't be any driver conflicts...since you can't install them until
windows is up and running.
also...acouple of times out of the many times i've reinstalled windows...the
BSOD says....memory management. I've run MEMTEST 86+ for several passes and
everything passes with flying colors. Even with the memory overclocked!!
I've also ran the Maxtor Powermax Diagnostic utility and that was ok too!!
I'm hoping someone has some more ideas!!
Thanks
Roger
