I reported on 17 Feb that I had problems with explorer.exe and iexplore.exe
being replaced with calc.exe although the file names remained explorer.exe
and iexplore.exe. If you replaced the incorrect files with the correct ones
they got overwritten again within seconds.

Things rapidly went from bad to worse and it was impossible to start Windows
XP at all even in safe mode with "Load needed DLLs for Kernel" error.
Eventually I had to wipe my hard drive and re-load Windows.

Someone I consulted thinks that Windows got corrupted. I am still unaware
what the cause of this was but, if you see this behaviour, it is likely to
be serious.
