Malke,
That's the problem. XP is supposed to support the native firewire
drivers needed. Their are no driver updates for my situation per se.
SP1 drivers works fine for me, it's only the digitally signed drivers
in SP2 that doesn't like my Via chipset card. I am going to switch to a
Texas Instruments chipset card before I try the next update to SP2. I
will dumb down the machine first; remove all add on cards & external
peripherals, let SP2 do it's thing, then name SP2cab to SP2cabold
before plugging anything back in. That will insure that the drivers
that load will be SP1 only. Believe me, I've dorked around with this
issue too long! I've seen too many hotfixes posted in the KB, read too
many problem threads in forums. I'm glad Firewire works for you folks.

( I know it says it's working, but do you have anything plugged into
it? )
