In addition to the replies that you already have, it should be noted that if your computer is a domain computer that only domain users will have access to your shares.

For example, this computer is on a domain here at the house while the other family members are on computers not joined to the domain. They cannot access any shares on this computer whether or not I create them using my domain account or a local account.
