Even though it looks like the same user to you (same username), as far as
Windows is concerned, they are two distinct users (for the most part,
Windows could care less what the username is, it utilizes a different method
to identify users and permissions). Therefore, without you explicitly
setting it, there is no default permission for access to the folder on the
desktop by the user on the laptop. If you're using Simple File Sharing,
simply sharing the folder should correct the issue, however, that will allow
access by ALL users. If you disable Simple File Sharing, you will be able
to set more granular access permissions to the files, but when you attempt
to access the files, you will be prompted for login information.
