Google Tool Bar Went Away

Last night, after reading a hint here, I went to services.msc and turned off
System Restore. I checked all the drives for any contents in the System
Volume Info folders for files, and re-booted. Went back to services.msc and
re-enabled System Restore.

Now, this morning, the Google Toolbar is gone! Not that there's a
connection, but it's the only change to the system since the toolbar was
last seen or heard from.

Re-installing the toolbar proceeds without incident, but still no Google
Toolbar.

Any hints would be appreciated.

I miss my toolbar (sniff).
