Unable to boot from cd

I have windows xp prof and i am unable to boot from the cd, i wait for it to
say press any key, then press a key but nothing happens whatsoever, and i
dont know how to get into BIOS to change the setting, it seems that whatever
key i press does not work even tho my keyboard is functioning fine, any help
would be much apprecitated, Thanks Jayne
