had a go at installing XP Pro + SP2 and it all went fine up to a point, but
then disaster struck ! I selected to do an upgrade (I currently have Windows
XP Home) and it did a check on Microsoft on the internet to check for
upgrades or something.
Anyway it all carried on through the preparing installation part, and then
going through the Installation it had got to 34 minutes to go (from 39
minutes) when the PC suddenly powered off and a warning message came up on a
DOS type screen saying the set up had been abandoned to protect computer
resources. I tried three more times and the set up failed at the same point.
Have you any ideas what is going on ? I don't think there is anything wrong
in my PC set-up, it is a new PC that I only bought in July.
The snag is that I can't wind-back to XP Home now. Whenever the computer
starts up it goes straight in to the Windows Set up. So I am completely
stuck.
