Many thanks to everyone who offered suggestions to sort this problem. It's
now working OK, but I'm not exactly sure why. I suspect there was a problem
in the BIOS.

I checked the jumper settings. It came as CS but I had changed it to Master
(which was reflected in the BIOS) however, when I changed it back to CS, I
got a checksum error which reset the BIOS. I've been in and changed a couple
of things to how I like them and verything is working fine now. No idea what
the initial problem was, but I'm past caring :-)
