Installing software - Admin permission denied

I am trying to install Antivirus software on my machine but the installation
fails with an error message that the user does not have administrator rights.
The user I am loged on as is the only user for the machine and also belongs
to the administrators group. I tried creating a new user with admin rights
but I still get the message.
